Use this test with your students

Universities, exchange programs and language teachers use this placement test as a free intake tool. Send students the link, collect their level, and start where they actually are.

Adaptive flow: students start at A2 and the test moves up or down a CEFR level after every two answers — most finish in under 10 minutes.

Every question shows an explanation on review, so the test doubles as a diagnostic exercise you can discuss in class.

Rioplatense items (voseo, local vocabulary) are clearly flagged, so the test remains valid as a general Spanish placement.

A printable answer sheet with the full answer key is available below for offline use.

Frequently Asked Questions

What to expect on a Spanish placement test?▼
Expect a mix of grammar, vocabulary and reading items ordered by difficulty. Our adaptive version starts at A2, moves up a CEFR level after two correct answers and down after two wrong ones, and stops as soon as it can bracket your level — usually within 15 to 25 questions.
How long do Spanish placement tests take?▼
Ours takes about 5 to 10 minutes: the adaptive flow stops early once your level is clear, with a maximum of 25 questions. There is no per-question time limit.
What is a good score on a Spanish placement test?▼
There is no pass or fail — a placement test measures where you are so you can start studying at the right level. B1 is a common goal for travellers and B2 for professional use; your result page explains what each level can do.
What are CEFR levels?▼
CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) is the international standard for language proficiency: A1 Beginner, A2 Elementary, B1 Intermediate, B2 Upper Intermediate, C1 Advanced, C2 Mastery. Universities, employers and exams like DELE and SIELE all use it.
Does the test include Argentine Spanish?▼
Yes — items with the voseo (vos tenés) and local vocabulary are included and clearly flagged as Rioplatense, so the test stays valid as a general Spanish placement while still reflecting the Spanish you will hear in Argentina.
Do I need to register to take the test?▼
No. The test is 100% free and requires no registration. Emailing yourself the level report at the end is optional — the result and badge are available without any personal data.
