ABOUT THE LANGUAGE
Learning Turkish as a Spanish speaker: where to start
Turkish is an agglutinative language: instead of separate words for prepositions and articles, meanings are 'glued' to the end of the root word as suffixes. This sounds strange at first, but it has a very consistent logic — once you learn the rules of suffixation, you can build thousands of new sentences without memorizing each word separately.
For Spanish speakers, the most challenging part is not vocabulary or pronunciation (Turkish is phonetic), but getting used to the verb appearing at the end of the sentence. Live online classes with a native teacher allow you to correct those Spanish-language habits immediately, which is what accelerates progress most in the first months.
Argentina has a significant Turkish community, and interest in the Turkish language and culture has grown with the phenomenon of Turkish TV series (dizi). Many students started wanting to understand dialogues without subtitles and ended up communicating with real fluency.
PRONUNCIATION
The Turkish alphabet and pronunciation
Modern Turkish has used the Latin alphabet since 1928. It has 29 letters: the 26 of the English alphabet plus six special characters with fixed pronunciation. It is completely phonetic, meaning each letter always sounds the same — no exceptions like in English or French.
Special characters in Turkish
- ç — pronounced "ch" (as in "church")
- ğ — soft "g", lengthens the preceding vowel
- ı — neutral vowel, similar to an unstressed schwa sound
- ö — like the German "ö" or French "eu"
- ş — pronounced "sh" (as in "shoe")
- ü — like the German "ü" or French "u"
Advantages of Turkish for English speakers
- Completely phonetic pronunciation — written as it sounds
- No grammatical gender in nouns
- No definite/indefinite articles (no "the", "a", "an")
- Very regular and predictable verb system
- Vowel harmony: one rule covers thousands of cases

FORMAT
How Turkish online classes work
Classes are 100% live online via video call. This is not a recorded course or an automatic exercise platform — it is a real class with a native teacher who speaks Spanish and adapts explanations to how you think as a Spanish speaker.
Each class has a clear structure: brief review of the previous class, introduction of new content, guided oral practice and a free conversation block. Student speaking time is the most important element — learning Turkish requires using it, not just listening.
