The SIELE (Servicio Internacional de Evaluación de la Lengua Española) is a digital Spanish exam promoted by the Instituto Cervantes, UNAM, the University of Salamanca and the University of Buenos Aires. Unlike the DELE, the SIELE is 100% digital, has flexible dates year-round, includes Latin American Spanish variants and delivers results in 3 weeks. However, it is valid for 5 years (the DELE is permanent).
The official fee varies by centre and modality. Check the current amount in the official portal linked above. Registration and exam fees are separate; after the diagnostic, we quote your online 1:1 preparation plan.
Yes, one of the SIELE's biggest advantages is that you can sit sections separately or in combinations. If you only need to certify your reading and listening comprehension, for example, you can sit just those two sections without taking the full exam.
SIELE results are delivered within a maximum of 3 weeks from the exam date, much faster than the DELE (which takes ~3 months). You receive a digital certificate with your score from 0 to 1000 and the corresponding CEFR level.
On the SIELE, a B2 corresponds to a score between 641 and 800 points (out of 1000). The full scale is: A1 (0-199), A2 (200-399), B1 (400-640), B2 (641-800), C1 (801-1000). There is no C2 level on the SIELE.
Yes, the SIELE certificate is valid for 5 years from the exam date. If you need a permanent certification, the DELE is the best alternative. But if you need to certify your level for a specific short- or medium-term purpose, the SIELE is faster and more flexible.
It depends on your current level. From a solid A2, most students need between 6 and 10 weeks of preparation to reach B1 level (400-640 points). From a B1, 4 to 8 weeks are usually enough to reach B2 (641-800 points).
